Amish White Bread

So reika and I are trying out this blog for a couple reasons.

First, we want to keep track of our time spent here in Columbus. It's a new thing for us both to be around each other, and we want to share that with our friends and family.
Second, Columbus has some great things going on, and we want to invest in the community here, and to get ideas and give ideas to those we live around.

Here's a basic recipe I pulled from for a white bread. Cheap, quick, and makes two good size loaves, so it fits my criteria.

2C warm water
2/3C sugar
1 1/2 T yeast
1 1/2 t salt
1/4C veggie oil
6-7C flour

dissolve the sugar in the warm water by stirring, then add yeast and let proof.
mix the salt and oil into yeast mix.
flour in one cup at a time, then knead, oil up a bowl and let rise for around an hour.
punch it down and cut it in two, then knead again and put in oiled pans.
let it rise again for a half hour, then bake it at 350 for about a half hour.

real simple, and if it comes out too sweet, you can cut back on the sugar or add some more salt.
T - tablespoon
t - teaspoon

This bread is great for sandwiches and french toast. Hope you enjoy it. Google amish white bread for the base.
Next recipe coming up is a pumpkin bread that I stole from my aunt's bed and breakfast cookbook. It's pretty much amazing.
